1. Who I am

I'm Pete Sinclair, and I trade as Bloom Street Digital, a digital marketing practice serving North Hampshire. I'm a sole trader, and I'm the person responsible for your personal information (what data protection law calls the "controller").

2. What this policy covers

This policy explains what personal information I collect through bloomstreetdigital.com, why I collect it, what I do with it and what your rights are. It covers my free playbook downloads, my emails, the free checks I offer, my contact forms, and the cookies and tracking tools on my website.

3. What I collect, why, and for how long

What I collect Why My lawful basis How long I keep it
Playbook downloads: your first name and email address To give you the playbook you asked for, on the website and by a backup email. Legitimate interests (delivering what you requested). Until you unsubscribe, or until you haven't opened or clicked any of my emails for 12 months, whichever comes first.
Subscriber records: which playbooks you downloaded and when, whether you ticked the marketing box, whether you replied to an offer, and whether your address is with a personal email provider such as Gmail To send you the right emails, respect your choices, and understand who my playbooks are helping. Legitimate interests. Consent, where it relates to marketing. As long as I hold your subscriber record (see above).
Marketing opt-in: a record that you ticked the box, and when To send you occasional marketing emails, but only if you ticked the box on the form. Consent. Until you withdraw consent or unsubscribe, or after 12 months of no engagement.
Contact forms: your name, email address, phone number if you give it, and your message To reply to your enquiry and, if you ask, provide a quote. Legitimate interests, and taking steps at your request before a contract. 24 months after the enquiry ends, unless you become a client.
Free checks: what you send me for a free check, such as reports, screenshots, links or a business name, and our replies To carry out the free check you asked for and reply with my findings. Legitimate interests, and taking steps at your request. 6 months after the check is finished, unless you become a client.
Clients: contact details and records of the work I do To deliver my services and keep proper accounts. Contract, and legal obligation. Usually six years, for tax and accounting records.
Website analytics: pages visited, device and browser, approximate location To understand how people use my site and improve it, using Google Analytics. Consent, through the cookie banner.
Advertising and measurement: cookie and device identifiers through the Meta Pixel To measure my own adverts and reach people who have visited my site. Consent, through the cookie banner. Set by Meta and the cookie's own expiry.

I don't ask for anything more than I need. For the playbooks, that's your first name and email address only.

4. Marketing emails

The playbook download form has an unticked box asking if you'd like occasional emails from me with marketing tips and offers. I only send marketing emails to people who ticked it.

  • What I send. A few days after you download a playbook, I may send you one email offering a free check related to that playbook. I use the playbook you downloaded to choose which offer to send. I won't send more than one of these emails in any seven days.

  • If you reply, I won't send you any more free-check offers.

  • You never have to tick the box to get a playbook. If you leave it unticked, you still get your download and a backup copy by email. That email contains the playbook only, with nothing promotional.

  • You can change your mind at any time. Every email I send has an unsubscribe link that works in one click. You can also email me and I'll remove you.

  • I never buy, rent or scrape email lists, and I never sell your details to anyone.

5. Free checks

If you take me up on a free check, you'll send me things like reports, screenshots or links from your own accounts. Please don't include your customers' personal details. If a screenshot or report shows any, blur or remove them first. I'll only use what you send to carry out the check and reply to you, and I'll delete it after the period in section 3 unless you become a client.

6. Cookies and similar technologies

My website uses a cookie banner. Cookies that aren't strictly necessary, including Google Analytics and the Meta Pixel, only run if you accept them. If you decline, they stay off. You can change your choice at any time using the cookie settings link at the bottom of any page.

7. Who I share your information with

I use a small number of trusted providers to run my website and emails. They handle your information on my behalf, under their own data protection terms:

  • MailerLite to store my subscriber list and send emails.

  • Squarespace to host my website and handle my contact forms.

  • Google for website analytics, if you accept analytics cookies, and for my email inbox where your replies and enquiries arrive.

  • Meta for the Meta Pixel, if you accept advertising cookies.

I may also share information if the law requires it, for example with HMRC or a regulator. I don't sell your personal information.

8. Transfers outside the UK

Some of these providers process information outside the UK. When that happens, I rely on the safeguards allowed by UK data protection law, such as approved international transfer arrangements.

9. Keeping your information safe

I use reputable providers with their own security, keep access to my accounts limited and protected, and only keep personal information as long as I need it for the reasons above.

10. Your rights

Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:

  • be told how your information is used (this policy does that)

  • see the information I hold about you

  • have it corrected if it's wrong

  • have it deleted in many circumstances

  • restrict or object to how I use it

  • take a copy of it in a portable format, in some cases

  • withdraw your consent at any time, where I rely on consent, without it affecting anything you've already received

To use any of these rights, email hello@bloomstreetdigital.co.uk. I'll respond as soon as I can, and I won't charge you.

11. Complaints

If you're unhappy with how I've handled your information, please tell me first at hello@bloomstreetdigital.co.uk. I'll acknowledge your complaint and look into it properly. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk.

12. Children

My website and playbooks are written for business owners. They aren't aimed at children, and I don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.

13. Changes to this policy

If I change how I use your information, I'll update this page and the date at the top. If a change affects how I use information you've already given me, I'll tell you directly where I can.
